Took Gavynn both mornings and yesterday afternoon. Saw some birds, missed a jake this morning. With the wind and rain I think we are done until the regular season.

I sent an email to the MDC, does anyone know if her youth tag is good during the regular season even though she has not had hunter ed.

The youth permits allow them to participate in the regular turkey and deer seasons as well.

Click on the MDC website above and it will take you there. Click turkey season and click permits on the next page.

Your question is one of the main reasons they are doing away with the "Youth" tag. They will now be a regular tag at a reduced rate with the extra season thrown in. Supposed to help with the confusion of whether they have a tag or not.

It sounds as if you had a good hunt even though you still have a tag left. Did you get Gavynn to the 20 ga. yet? Did you get to watch a show?

I've been seeing 3 toms in the neighbors field regularly putting on a show this past week.

A buddy of mine's son got a nice bird Sunday morning. Came in spitting and drumming to the 16 yd shot!!! I'm headed to Iowa this next weekend to take my buddy, Brody, out for his first bird!! Hope to do some shed hunting/scouting while I'm there, I should draw a bowtag this fall!!!
